Urban Chickens
The Macalester Urban Land and Community Health (MULCH) Garden, is a student organization that runs the student organic garden. In the Spring of 2011, and MULCH students sought to further its urban farm practices by developing a successful proposal to bring urban chickens to campus. hosting chickens next to the garden. Macalester now has six chickens in a coup next to the organic garden. These hens lay every other day, and are used to show how certain kinds of livestock can be incorporated into urban living.
