A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate for construction and demolition waste:
Luther College does have a Green Building policy that documents our intentions to divert construction waste. The waste figures for this year include waste from the reconstruction of the window walls on the east facade of the Union. This was all a combination of wet insulation, embedded metal in masonry, or other non-recyclable materials. Through careful work, we were able to reuse both the windows and window frames rather than purchasing new, saving 5 tons from being landfilled.
