A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:
The Provost's Office provided the current (2021) number of tenured/tenure track faculty. These faculty are required to conduct research.
These activities were entered into a spreadsheet. In the fall of 2018, Luther College's Sustainability Coordinator attempted to meet with all departments to talk about the requirements for STARS that related to the curriculum and research. The Coordinator gave forms to all department heads to fill out with instructions on how the Center for Sustainable Communities would collect information about sustainability-focused and sustainability-related courses, research, and campus as a living laboratory programs. Sustainability staff reviewed faculty responses to these forms and then reviewed all professors' research interests and CVs to ensure that the reported research could be considered sustainability research by the STARS definition.
