All staff are released from responsibilities for part of a day in June to attend staff day. Every year there are a variety of sustainability related tracks offered, including things like cooking classes, gardening classes and renewable energy tours.
In Spring 2015 Energy and Waste Fellow Jamie Stallman coordinated a lunch and learn series where members of the campus community could learn about various aspects of sustainability at Luther.
Sustainability staff provide trainings (30-45 minutes) to all custodial and dining services staff at the start of the year. Trainings include campus sustainability goals, progress towards achieving those goals and what staff can do in their respective areas to contribute.
The 100 faculty and staff who participate in the CSA Rebate Program are required to attend two food education events, which consist of cooking classes, gardening classes, farm tours, food films, book discussions and more.
Additionally, all staff receive monthly sustainability updates during staff meetings about a variety of sustainability topics. These are not being counted as trainings because they are only 5 minutes long.
