A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):

Luther College does have an indoor air quality program for Sampson Hoffland Laboratories, but has not expanded the program to other buildings. Luther does have building automation software (Automated Logic), which monitors and regulates HVAC systems. Points monitored include carbon dioxide, humidity, and the volume of outside air used for ventilation. Automated Logic is designed to control indoor air quality as well as trigger staff response when the system detects air quality indicators beyond pre-set allowable ranges. The system is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Luther uses a work order system called "FixIt" to track complaints and fix-it requests for any building on campus. All requests made through this web site are addressed by proper facility personnel. The requester is notified when action has been taken.

Staff are always on the look out for any mold growth and Luther contracts with a company to remove any identified as quickly as possible.
