A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :
We support external events in two ways:

1. We host a number of external organizations each year which provide professional development opportunities. Whenever possible we make this program available to our community at low to no cost as part of the hosting partnership. A recent example of this is the Summer 2020 webinar series presented by the Office of Sustainability, Baumhart Center, and Supply and Value Chain Center (now called the Supply Chain and Sustainability Center). The series brought experts to speak on the following topics: The Urgency of Climate Action; Sustainability in Transportation; Sustainability in Buildings; and A Sustainable Chicago for All. Across the four webinars, approximately 600 internal and external attendees received valuable training on sustainability topics at no cost.

2. We support staff and faculty attending professional meetings and conferences that provide these opportunities. Our annual budget for professional development and conference travel is over $6.3 Million. Examples of this include GreenBuild, AASHE, NACUBO, as well as institution specific meetings including American Jesuit Colleges and Universities conferences, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities.
