Standing and Ad Hoc Sustainability Committees (Sustainability, Transportation, Carbon Offset Guidance, etc.)

A brief description of the employee educators program (1st program):
These are committees made up of staff, faculty and students that are organized around sustainability topics. They each conduct their own outreach and training programs related to their topic (e.g. Bike Commuter Challenge from the Transportation Committee). Their programs can include tabling, events, competitions or the like.

Many of these events are coordinated by the Office of Sustainability and conducted by employees trained by the Office of Sustainability to deliver the appropriate content, both regionally and specific to Loyola and our sustainability offerings.

Each Committee has it's own audience. Multiple of these serve the entire community.
Examples - Transportation Committee hosts Bike to Work Week. Outreach, Ride Tracking, and tabling at each campus.

Staff Council - Emerge and Benefits Fair

A brief description of the employee educators program (2nd program):
Through workshops, newsletters, and during regular benefits communications, the Staff Council and Human Resources Department has individuals available to talk about the employee-related sustainability aspects. These include employee benefits (pre-tax transit, employer assisted housing), workplace resources (Green Office, Green Event and Green Purchasing guides) and upcoming events (e.g. lunch & learns, tours, workshops).

The Office of Sustainability presents to the Staff Council annually and has provided a set of sustainability resources appropriate for all employees to share through Staff Council events and communications such as the "eco-tip" section of the monthly newsletter.

Additional Programs 

A brief description of all other employee peer-to-peer sustainability outreach and education programs:
Zero Waste Events - These programs include staff, faculty, students and community members. They reach all members of the community during special events. The Office of Sustainability supports these events and trains all volunteers prior to the event.

Bike Commuter Challenge - These are annual programs at all campuses to promote bike commuting. The Office of Sustainability works with the Transportation Committee to coordinate this event and train presenters on the tabling script including Loyola offerings that support bike commuting.

Sustainability Tour Training - The Office of Sustainability provides tour training for staff in special events, advancement, alumni relations, and admissions.

Loyola Dining Seasonal Presentation - Prior to the academic year, sustainability aspects of Loyola Dining and catering are presented to primary event coordinators.

Department-level Green Teams - Information Technology Services, University Libraries, and Alumni Relations have been trained by the Office of Sustainability to incorporate sustainability into their programs and projects.
