A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
In Summer of 2016, a group of faculty and support staff convened for a set of meetings to discuss appropriate sustainability learning outcomes. Using existing literature and examples from other campuses, the group defined a set of learning outcomes to be used in evaluating courses, curriculum and research.
A survey in January of 2017 was distributed to all instructional faculty and employees and they self-reported if they taught courses during the current academic year that provided resources to meet any of these learning outcomes. These results were then used to estimate total sustainability courses and sustainability-related courses.
The courses identified in the survey were identified from the list of courses taught during the full 2019 year (January, Spring, Summer, Fall). This was done by core curriculum requirements and departmental requirements.
Using sustainability keywords, all LUC course titles and descriptions were analyzed for text utilizing R. This identified courses that may have been missed during survey approaches.
The full listing of all course sections was then reviewed for the courses identified by the statistics approach and the survey approach by sustainability staff. This developed the attached list.

A complete listing of all courses from 2022 was provided by the Registrar. (N = 12,196).
All Remedial, Thesis, Practicum, Clinical, Internship, Independent Research, Dissertation, Performance, Fieldwork, Extern Placement, Doctoral and Masters Study were removed.
This left us with N= 9,528 courses.
This list was cross-referenced with the results of the 2017 Faculty survey and the R analysis described above. These courses were assigned "Sustainability-focused" or "Sustainability-Inclusive" designations and tabulated.
This was then evaluated to see which of the academic departments offered these courses.
We offered the Deans for each School or Institute to review this list and minor modifications were noted (if a reply was received).
