A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
The IES is a small school within Loyola that generates much of the creativity and advocacy for sustainability. Rapidly growing in number of students and academic offerings since it's launch in 2013, the IES is home to the Biodiesel Program, Urban Agriculture and the Loyola Farmers Market. Research strengths include aquatic ecology, ecotoxicology, and interdisciplinary efforts into business, the humanities, and public health.

Arrupe College

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
Launched in 2014, Arrupe intends to provide a bridge to Jesuit higher education for minority students around Chicago. Under the Loyola accreditation, Arrupe provides Associates Degrees at no cost to the 150 students accepted each year.

Third Point of Distinction

Name of a third highlighted program/initiative/accomplishment:
A Just Future - Loyola's Climate Action Plan

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
Adopted in 2015, Loyola is working hard to meet its goal of carbon neutral for scopes 1&2 by 2025. A committee of university administrators, faculty, and students meet twice a semester to maintain this progress and prioritize projects. The Committee has been able to advance renewable energy purchasing, air travel alternatives and other carbon reducing strategies.
