A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
Founded in 1870, Loyola University Chicago is one of the nation’s largest Jesuit, Catholic universities, with more than 17,000 students. Nearly 12,250 undergraduates call Loyola home. The University has four campuses: three in the greater Chicago area and one in Rome, Italy, as well as course locations in Saigon-Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Vernon Hills, Illinois (Cuneo Mansion and Gardens); and a Retreat and Ecology Campus in Woodstock, Illinois. The University’s 14 schools, colleges, and institutes include: the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Quinlan School of Business, Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing, Stritch School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Communication, School of Continuing and Professional Studies, School of Education, School of Law, School of Social Work, Graduate School, Institute of Pastoral Studies, Institute of Environmental Sustainability, and Arrupe College of Loyola University Chicago.
Ranked a top national university by U.S. News & World Report, Loyola is also among a select group of universities recognized for community service and engagement by national organizations like the Carnegie Foundation and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
For this submission of STARS, operational data is primarily for the Lake Shore and Water Tower Campus. Student and employee information is for all three campuses. This is due to data accuracy challenges in attaining utility information at Health Sciences Campus.

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? | Included? | |
Agricultural school | No | No |
Medical school | Yes | Yes |
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) | Yes | Yes |
Museum | Yes | Yes |
Satellite campus | Yes | Yes |
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres | No | No |
Agricultural experiment station larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres | No | No |
Hospital | No | No |
The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
The institutional boundary for Loyola's STARS submission includes Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences Campuses. The only exception to this is in the Operations category. Due to a recent property transaction, we do not have accurate utility information for the four buildings at the Health Sciences Campus. This will be corrected in future submissions. All other data is relevant for the reporting year indicated for each category.
