Sustainable Innovation is paramount to solving our global environmental health crisis. With dozens of initiatives, Green LMU, as the office of sustainability, has been working to improve LMU's environmental presence since our first initiatives prior to 1990. Our team is built of faculty, staff, students, and partners committed to bettering the environment in creative, eco-friendly ways. We've become a global leader in sustainability.

Center for Urban Resilience (CURes)
A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
Innovation in the field of urban resilience is a key aspect of Jesuit education within Loyola Marymount University. The Center for Urban Resilience allows faculty and students to promote innovation by developing undergraduate and graduate courses, supporting faculty research and scholarly activity, publishing an international journal, providing restorative justice training, and conducting cutting-edge urban ecology research. Since 2011 CURes has provided an academic platform to enhance the sustainability acumen of individuals within the greater LMU community.

A brief description of the third program/initiative/accomplishment:
Loyola Marymount University has been admitted as an observer to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, providing opportunities for students and faculty members to participate in discussions about global warming, greenhouse gases, and other environmental issues. LMU has institutionalized the UN SDG as a way to spearhead climate change and become a global leader in sustainable innovation. The Institute for business and sustainability empowers students through the SDG to think critically about the challenges 21st-century corporations face and advances research to influence private and public policy.
