A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
Wellness services are provided to all full-time faculty and staff (and their immediate family members) including counseling services for mental health, vocational problems, substance abuse, family/marital/financial problems, information, referrals when appropriate, critical incident stress intervention. With regard to students, Loyalist College has had in place a full-time Mind & Wellness Practitioner for several years to promote health and wellbeing on campus, with a focus on mental health. The College also has two full time mental health counselors for students. They offer mental health counseling and support, and help students define their goals, tap into their own strengths and build opportunities for positive change. They can also refer students to additional or specialized community resources when needed to support a student’s wellness. Students are able to access both Counseling and Mind & Wellness Services for free.
