A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation:
All incoming students are required to participate in New Student Orientation. Sustainability has always played a role in orientation. Each student participating in orientation is provided a free reusable water bottle in addition to information about living sustainably on campus. All incoming freshman also enroll in LIU Post's Freshman Foundation's course. This course includes an introduction to campus sustainability and offers students opportunities for on-campus sustainable service learning projects. The theme of our first-year service experience will also revolve around the theme of sustainability.
