Lewis University’s sustainability mission is “In the spirit of knowledge, wisdom, fidelity, justice, and association, Lewis University is committed to making a significant reduction in our ecological footprint on campus as well as the world”. Sustainability is usually defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the needs of the future. It touches on many aspects of campus operations such as energy, water, waste, purchasing, transportation, buildings, and maintenance.
