Properly storing materials until they are ready to be picked up by a licensed hazardous waste disposal company.

Our hazardous waste disposal company is scheduled to pick up any hazardous waste that is coordinated by the sustainability coordinator to have all the department be ready for a pickup. They will package all materials and take off site.

There has not been any significant hazardous material release incidents during the previous three years.

Departments will reuse laboratory chemicals if possible, but if it is deemed unsafe they will properly store the remainder until it can be properly disposed of.

All faculty and staff notify facilities of any electronic waste that needs to be disposed of on campus. Facilities picks up the electronic waste and stores it on-site until the sustainability coordinator determines to make a bulk pickup and the recycling company will be contacted. They will then be scheduled to pick up the waste and they package it and take it off-site.
