The conference that Lewis University presented at was The Greentown Conference. This conference brought over 300 people from all different sectors from the region in order to address sustainability issues and be immersed in a learning environment revolving around sustainability topics. We have various experts from around the region that were able to cover most of all sustainability topics for our region. The presentation that Lewis University presented was on our waste diversion programs and how much of an impact it has been on our campus and surrounding communities.

Through SMHEC we submitted a case study to be recognized for the Illinois Governor Sustainability Award that we accepted on behalf of multiple institutions.

Lewis has a sustainability council where students, staff and faculty represent the body of the committee. Also, the sustainability coordinator is part of the SMHEC committee where it consists of a multitude of institutions within the area. These committee promote community involvement and try to advance sustainability in all aspects. The sustainability coordinator also serves on the board of directors for the Will County Regional Sustainability Network as well as the Green Town Advisory Committee group.

A brief description of the mentoring relationship and activities:

All Institutions under SMHEC assist each other with their programs and provide insight to one another. When a new development arising for a university Lewis University will provide insight if we have already implemented a similar program at our university.

Yes, through the various sustainability committee groups that Lewis is part of we are continuously sharing resources and planning on a bi-weekly basis.
