A brief description of the student educators program (1st program):
The Lehigh Eco-Rep Leadership Program is a peer-to-peer education program focused on training student leaders to embody and promote sustainable living in residential halls and Greek houses. Eco-Reps foster sustainable behavior among their peers through fun and educational programs such as: energy conservation competition, RecycleMania tournament, Earth Week, organic taste tests, make and take events, One Hour No Power, Trashion Show, Game Day Challenge, up-cycling crafts, southside cleanups, and green trivia. Eco-Reps also host building/hall events twice a semester to promote sustainable behaviors as well as take on monthly personal challenges.

The target audience of the Eco-Rep Leadership Program is primarily residential undergraduate students, though campus programming is open to any student.

The Sustainable Living Program is a voluntary, self-guided program coordinated by the Eco-Rep Leadership Program. It was re-launched during the 2017-2018 academic year. It is designed for students in residence halls and Greek houses to take the lead in making their living spaces and daily routines more sustainable. The certification process includes specific questions that address day-to-day living habits in various categories including energy, water, purchasing, recycling, food/dining, involvement, and innovations. By taking action in a variety of topic areas, students can reduce their environmental impact, be responsible stewards of the university’s resources, and contribute to Lehigh’s sustainability goals and commitments.

This credit was impacted by COVID-19. As such FY 19 submission descriptions were used for this credit so that it is representative of a normal year. To ensure data consistency we checked the relevant PRE-5 data for FY 19 and FY 21 and the student enrollment numbers were the same so it did not matter which we pulled from for this credit.
That said, the series of quantitative questions have changed since FY 19 (ie: # of student educators, # of weeks program is active, # of hours expected/worked). To resolve this, we averaged the number of Eco-Reps we had pre-pandemic with the number of Eco-Reps we currently have, which is the most representative of a normal year we can estimate. The program was overhauled and had expanded just before COVID-19 and has since regained its membership.
The hours for the first program, the Eco-Rep Leadership Program is based on an average of 4 hours per week.
The second program, the Sustainable Living Program, is run by the Eco-Rep Leadership Program. Though we estimated roughly 15 minutes per week per Eco-Rep. Therefore I based the total calculation off of the number of certifications achieved in 2019 (31 certs x 15 minutes = 7.5 hours). We then added the amount of time the student coordinator spends on the program per year (60 minutes per week x 30 weeks= 30 hours)
