A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The course inventory was sent to department chairs to be filled out directly by faculty. Along with this inventory, a description of the process and the definitions of sustainability-focused and sustainability-inclusive were explained.
After a set amount of time, all courses were reviewed as they had been in previous inventories to supplement the information provided by faculty.
The following is the methodology used to complete the inventory as in the past:
A set of keywords was defined to be descriptors of sustainability. These keywords were used to filter the academic courses. Each course description that had 6 or more matching words was then examined further to determine if it was sustainability-related or included sustainability-focused.
Any course that participated in a sustainability curriculum integration workshop was counted as sustainability-inclusive.
Cross-listed courses were counted as only one course and not multiple.
