The Council for Equity and Community is a committee of Lehigh faculty, staff and students committed to serving as a campus resource and agent of cultural change. We encourage constructive dialogue and work toward building community at Lehigh. The work to foster inclusive diversity at Lehigh reaches into every facet of campus life and engages our entire community of students, faculty and staff. Lehigh's efforts include changes to policies and practices at the institutional level as well as work creating a more inclusive campus culture through opportunities for education, dialogue and action.

A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
This is an area of increasing interest for the University and efforts are underway. However, it is very important to note that the University has for the two years, offered workshops by the Cornell Interactive Theatre Ensemble and the VISIONS Group on unconscious bias, believes, attitudes, inclusion, welcoming climate for individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. As result, the workshops has touched briefly on different cultures and differences. Over 875 faculty, staff, administration, and Trustees have attended one or both of these workshops. Lehigh University has formed an In-House Working Group to develop series of interactive workshops in which cultural competence will be one of many areas that will be covered for all of the above constituents at the university. In addition, the University is about to rollout the development a Certificate Program for Inclusive Excellence for Undergraduate and Graduate Students and cultural competence workshop will be part of the requirement by fall 2017. Then a similar certificate will be developed for faculty and staff with various competences built-in.
