A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
The counseling center is available to all registered students. The center is open from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday. It is also available after hours by appointment. The focus is on individual counseling on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Students present with symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, grief and other mental health issues. The center also provides wellness opportunities such as yoga, pilates, mindfulness and stress management workshops.

Lees-McRae College is committed to providing its employees and students with a safe and healthful environment.
Lees-McRae College recognizes the use of tobacco products on campus grounds is detrimental to the health and
safety of students, staff, faculty and visitors. Lees-McRae College also recognizes that it has the legal authority
to prohibit tobacco use pursuant to G.S. 143-599. Therefore, Lees-McRae College has set the following 100%
tobacco-free campus policy, implemented on June 1, 2011.
1. Use of tobacco is prohibited by students, staff, faculty or visitors:
2. The sale or free distribution of tobacco products, including merchandise, on campus or at school events is prohibited.
3. Student organizations are prohibited from accepting money or gifts from tobacco companies, including:
4. Tobacco advertisements are prohibited in college-run publications and on grounds or facilities, including athletic
facilities, owned or operated by Lees-McRae College.
5. Compliance
6. Sanctions imposed for a smoking violation may include probation of 3 to 12 months; fine up to $1,000; community
service; parent/guardian letter; loss of housing; suspension or expulsion.
