Trash Artwork
In mid-December 2015, Jay Lohman began picking-up trash that he found on the ground while walking his dog. For the past two years, he compiled the waste into colorful collages with a powerful message. This year, Jay will make a similar display with a symbolic message. Every item within the artwork was found improperly discarded on the ground, both on-campus or neighboring Annville Township streets and sidewalks Though if placed in a trash can, many of these items would still be improperly discarded. Most materials can be recycled, upcycled, reused, or repurposed. Choose before you use; consider before you litter.

Earth Days Mandala Sculpture
In celebration of Earth Days 2018, Adjunct instructor Karen Beall along with students in her Sculpture Studio: Organics class will be constructing a six-foot "Mandala" on the floor of the Lynch Memorial Hall Atrium. The sculpture will remain in place for one week.

Desire (2017-2018)
Human beings are conceived from desire, awaken to consciousness by expressing desire, and – except for those few who purposefully transcend its incessant upwelling – never live a day without feeling or knowing desire. Few would disagree that the experience of desire is fundamental to everything that makes us human. This year’s College Colloquium Series grapples with the theme of desire – for happiness and fulfillment, for love and connection, for health and money and material goods, for spiritual sustenance, and for the myriad other things that human beings tend to want and crave and covet and seek, or, that they tend to reject as unduly restrictive on the unfettered pursuit of their desires. Through a series of visiting speakers, films, workshops, curricular and co-curricular activities, and more, the campus community is invited to critically engage with this most elusive and ubiquitous aspect of the human condition.

Sustainability House
LVC continues to make exciting strides toward becoming a more sustainable campus. One recent initiative in that direction is a new Sustainability House. Starting in the fall semester of 2018, students have the option to live in the Sustainability House as one of the special interest houses on campus.
This particular initiative is especially exciting because it was developed by a student, McKenna Lupold ’18. Lupold came up with the idea for a Sustainability House while taking LVC’s food study course taught by Dr. Bob Valgenti, chair of religion and philosophy and founder of the E.A.T. Research Group. Once the idea sprouted, Lupold had to research how to make it a reality.
