Name of the institution’s featured sustainability program, initiative, or accomplishment:
Sustainability Grant: Fostering a Culture of Sustainability On Campus

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
Sustainability has had a presence on Lawrence's campus since 2007 when the first sustainability committee was established. In 2017, Lawrence received a grant to bolster its sustainability initiatives and transform its campus into a living laboratory. Receiving this grant presented a significant opportunity for Lawrence to reexamine its sustainability initiatives and build a robust sustainability program.

Name of a second highlighted sustainability program/initiative/accomplishment:
University Trash/Recycle Stations

A brief description of the second program/initiative/accomplishment:
In 2018, Lawrence purchased all new trash/recycle stations for campus. This project was made possible by grant funding Lawrence received to foster a culture of sustainability on campus. Previously, the trash and recycling receptacles on campus varied from building to building. They were often different sizes, colors, and shapes. This made it difficult to very easily distinguish between the containers and was potentially contributing to a higher contamination rate. The new containers can be found in the major academic and administrative buildings on campus, as well as the lobby of each residence hall. These uniform containers visually demonstrate Lawrence's commitment to proper waste sorting and have reduced our contamination rate as well.
