Institution employs LCCA less comprehensively, e.g. for certain types of systems or projects and not others

A brief description of the LCCA policy and/or practices:

Lawrence does not conduct LCCA for all energy and water-using products, systems and building components but does evaluate alternatives for larger infrastructural improvements or investments. For example, when replacing the lightbulbs in the parking lot of the Banta Bowl in 2019 (athletic stadium) LED lightbulbs were chosen over other alternatives for their long life expectancy and lower energy usage.

Though Lawrence does not have published sustainability criteria for evaluating furniture and furnishings, Lawrence does use Interface flooring as its standard flooring provider. Interface sells carpet in tiles so that damaged sections can easily be replaced. Interface also recycles their old carpet. If the carpet cannot be recycled it is brought to a waste to energy facility.

Yes

Technology Services has the stated policy of purchasing EPEAT Silver (or better) certified equipment whenever possible. All monitors, desktop and laptop computers purchased by the University have been EPEAT Gold Certified since at least 2012.

Lawrence selected Bon Appetit as it's food service provider due to its progressive and sustainable food sourcing programs, however, there are no published sustainability criteria for food service providers at this time.
