Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
Yes
A brief description of the incentive program(s):
The Provost's office manages the Curricular Development Grant, which faculty can apply for to develop courses outside their area of expertise. As a small institution, Lawrence does not manage separate programs for course development of specific areas. The Curricular Development Grant is used for the development or modification of sustainability courses.
In 2018-19 and 2019-20 Lawrence was able to offer a Sustainability Institute for up to 10 faculty each year, so sustainability interests have been temporarily deflected from the Provost's office. New course and course modification requests will teturn to the Provost's office after the grant period.
