A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Lawrence University has developed a system that is capable of tracking gas and electricity usage in campus buildings.
This monitoring system is based on technology from the E-mon company
( http://www.emon.com ), and currently it is used to record real-time electricity usage in eight of Lawrence University’s primary student residence halls.
Monitoring, tracking, and transparently exposing electricity usage within student residences raises general awareness about energy consumption, and it allows students to observe the real consequences of using more or less energy in their daily lives.
