There is a formal structure for overseeing Langara's investment policies and strategies. The Langara College Foundation holds all endowment assets. The College moved these assets to the Foundation in 2014 when it was established. The Board of Directors of this Foundation oversees the policies and implementation of the investment strategy. The Board also empowers the Finance committee to manage the oversight of the investment portfolio.
The Langara College Foundation, is a registered charity and not for profit society, separate from Langara College. The Foundation’s mandate as Langara College’s partner is to collaborate, and raise funds to support student and other College projects. The Foundation follows and sets its plans based on the College’s strategic plan. The Foundation and College also work collaboratively with its fund Manager Genus Capital Management, who specialize in sustainable investing.

- In 2016 the Board motioned to begin divesting its investment holding and moving towards more sustainable investments. The Foundation’s investment policy was updated to reflect this decision. A modest 10% minimum threshold was established. (see attached). In 2020 the Foundation asked Genus Capital Management to make a presentation and provide an investment strategy that would allow the Foundation to explore increasing its fossil free holdings to 50%
- In February 2021 the Foundation Board motioned to direct Genus Capital Management to divest its investments to increase its sustainable investment holdings to 50% of its portfolio.
- In April 2021 a new Investment policy was signed with Genus Capital Management
