The mission statement of Langara College's Sustainability Committee is to affirm Langara College's ongoing commitment to and responsibility for fostering an institutional culture characterized by leadership in environmental, social and financial sustainability.
The Committee provides advice to Senior Leadership on sustainability initiatives, and pursue opportunities for all members of the College community to make choices that promote sustainability in the teaching, learning, researching and working environments in alignment with strategic directions.

APAG 5 committee on Environmental Financial, and Social Sustainability
As part of the most recent Academic Plan process, five Academic Plan Action Groups (APAGs) were created, and each were responsible their respective priorities, which includes: Learning and Teaching, Student Support, Aboriginal Initiatives, International Initiatives, and Environmental, Financial, and Social Sustainability. Specific goals are given to each priority and the committees develop and implement actions plans for each of the goals.
The APAG5 committee is focused on Environmental Financial, and Social Sustainability, and comprised of both faculty and staff. Outcomes to date include the creation of a sustainability tour, support for the Student Sustainability Ambassador (SSA) Program, garden contest, and Langara's participation in AASHE and pursuit of STARS certification. Additionally, the APAG5 committee has hosted several annual APAG Mini-Conferences which bring in keynote speakers and events, workshops, and presentations to the campus focused on environmental, financial, and social sustainability.
