A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive program(s) offered by the institution:
1) Both the Associate of Arts Degree and Associate of Science Degree in Environmental Studies and Diploma in Arts and Science (Environmental Studies) include a mandatory 1-week practical field methods course which includes lectures (Spring Semester) and a mandatory, off-campus, field component shortly after the final examinations period (end of semester). 2) Langara International Service Trip (LIST), partnered with ME To WE, takes students beyond the classroom, and beyond Canada, to volunteer in our global community. Program components include a Pre-Trip Programming for 3 days, which include three pre-trip modules, Service, Sustainability and Culture. The Service Trip lasts 10 days where Langara students volunteer on social development projects and have the opportunity to learn from indigenous peoples, and view local wildlife.
