A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:
The College's Institute for Sustainable Practices is responsible for realizing Lane's core value of sustainability.
In 2006, Lane Community College (LCC) became one of the first signatories of the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), whereby LCC committed to systematically reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve carbon neutrality for all of its College operations across Lane County by the year 2050.
Lane Community College’s first Climate Action Plan was approved by the Board of Education in 2011. An update to the plan was published in 2018 and third Climate Action Plan iteration completed in the fall of 2024. The Climate Action Plan is a living document that serves as the College guide to achieve carbon neutrality; the document will be updated periodically.
LCC achieved Bee Campus USA certification in 2019.
LCC currently has four LEED certified buildings and is in the processes of certifying four additional LEED building, including two LEED EBOM projects.
LCC has robust sustainability academic programs, such as:

LCC is committed to sustainable campus operations, some example of this commitments are the achievement of Bee Campus USA certification in 2019 and LEED certification of four of the College buildings.
