Local advocacy

The college has been involved in the City of Eugene’s efforts to expand the Urban Reserves boundary, including providing testimony and support throughout the process.
Regional advocacy
A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the state/provincial/regional level:
We have signed on to multiple support letters for Lane Transit District (LTD) Congressional funding requests for electric buses.
The college has been engaged in conversations/planning efforts with Lane County and the Oregon Dept. of Transportation to explore options to reduce accidents on 30th Avenue and make it a more pedestrian-friendly option for people to bike, run and walk to campus. The College has been an active stakeholder in the design process for this project. The final design is now approved and finalized.
The college staff also participates in the Lane Climate Regional Collaborative to discuss plans and opportunities to advance sustainability at a regional level.

The college has signed on to joint support letters with other education partners to advocate for increased federal funding for the National Science Foundation and other federal agencies that support research in the area of sustainability.
