A brief description of other sources of electricity not specified above:
Lakehead's power supply is 100% grid purchased electricity. Hugh Briggs of physical plant was unaware of the breakdown of power generation sources. Customer representatives from Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Thunder Bay Hydro were likewise unaware. A useful document which outlines power generation for all of Northwestern Ontario can be found here: http://www.powerauthority.on.ca/sites/default/files/planning/IESO-Technical-Assessment-de-registration-of-TBGS.PDF Northwestern Ontario is part of a balanced grid, and the percentage of electricity coming from various sources can change based on electricity consumption. For this reason, electricity is best noted for Lakehead as 100% grid purchased as the institution has no influence on the sustainability of that power generation.

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Note that the type of energy used for the production of heat in Lakehead's buildings is between 90 and 95% natural gas (hot-water district heating system), while 5-10% is produced with electricity.
