A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome :
Technology for People’s Initiative (TPI) is a new R&D center at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) creating technology solutions for problems in the public sector. Formally founded in April 2012 and housed in the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) at LUMS, TPI brings together a host of talent in inter-disciplinary faculty, fellows and students to work on practical problems having widespread impact. Some of the past problems include mauza level mapping, crime visualization on maps and analytics for judicial courts.
