In 2011 Professor Adil Najam was appointed as the third Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Dr. Najam is a teacher, scholar and public intellectual of global recognition and is considered a leading authority on international environment and development policy. In recent years, Dr. Adil Najam’s scholarly work has focused on issues of global climate change and sustainable development, and particularly on the role of developing countries in international environmental policy. Dr. Nomanul Haq is General Editor of Oxford University Press series Studies in Islamic Philosophy and chairs an editorial committee of senior scholars from Princeton, McGill and New York University.
Dr. Hussain spearheaded research and development program in Nanobiotechnology in Pakistan, and has already established a Nanobiotech group at NIBGE to develop the synthesis of metal nanoparticles and explore their applications in biotechnology and advanced materials fabrication. His current research interests include synthesis and self-assembly of nanoparticles to produce nanostructured materials and explore their applications in disease diagnostics and treatment, catalysis, biodiesel production, antimicrobial products, and environmental remediation etc.
Dr. Abubakr Muhammad does fundamental research at the interface of systems engineering, applied mathematics and applied physics, on various problems in robotics, distributed sensing, network dynamics and quantum information sciences. His current research focuses on the development of cyber-physical systems for development and critical infrastructures in Pakistan, in particular issues related to water.
Nauman Zaffar is part of LUMS Energy Optimization Committee and is working on establishing a research base at SSE in the area of Smart Grids and Renewable Energy. His current areas of interest include Renewable Energy, Electrical Power Distribution and Smart Grids. He has worked with PEPCo and various Distribution Companies in Pakistan to propose solutions for Power Distribution management and smart solutions for load management.
