A brief description of how the physical campus plan or amendment includes sustainability:
It is the basic policy of '' Kyoto University Campus Master Plan 2013'' that,
1) As the University that earnestly addresses global environmental issues, we transmit the progressive low carbon model.
2) We respond to a request from society by the advanced research results which lead to a solution of the Resources and Energy problems.
As concrete effort, ‘Tax System for Sustainable Campus'' from 2008 reached the second stage from 2013 to 2016, we continue to promote reduction of environmental burdens. We plan to build sustainable campus hub which combine both “hard” efforts and “soft” efforts, and aim to be a model campus for universities inside or outside Japan.
The “hard” efforts include energy-saving, carbon reduction, transportation, and waste disposal, whereas the “soft” efforts include aspects such as environmental education, regional partnership, food issues, and management methods.
