Name of the institution’s featured sustainability program, initiative, or accomplishment:
KPU's Sustainability Hub

A brief description of the institution’s featured program, initiative, or accomplishment:

KPU's Office of Sustainability, within the Campus and Community Planning Department, officially launched the Sustainability Hub (the “Hub”) in November, 2023. Recognizing a need for enhanced communication and collaboration on sustainability within the campus community, the Sustainability Hub emerged as a pivotal opportunity. The Hub is a space where members of the campus community, including faculty, staff, and students, come together to collectively advance sustainable performance at KPU through dialogue, advocacy, and action. It serves as a focal point for collective action on sustainability issues, fostering a collaborative environment where campus members can work together more effectively and in a coordinated way so duplication of work is minimized. Since the kick-off meeting in November, two “Sub-Hubs”, or project specific working groups have been formed. One Sub-Hub has provided input on the draft institution-wide definition of sustainability, while the other has been informing the framework for this year's, and the first of its kind, Annual Sustainability Report. As the Hub is further established, it is envisioned as both a virtual space and as an advisory group, which will provide input to the Office of Sustainability and other groups advancing sustainability at KPU and in the community. Specifically, the Hub will have an online presence to share resources, foster discussion, and enable connections. In its physical form, the Hub advisory group will participate in regular meetings and events. Together, the Hub will allow KPU faculty, staff, and students to more easily share information and updates about their sustainability-related work with each other, and with the broader community.
