A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
Established in 1981 originally as a college, KPU is presently Canada’s only polytechnic university focusing on both hands-on skills in addition to traditional academics. The university has state of the art facilities including high-tech labs, studios, classrooms, facilities, and unique experiential learning classrooms like a horticulture greenhouse and university farm land for KPU’s agricultural school programs. KPU offers bachelor's degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations in more than 140 programs. KPU is spread over five campuses across Metro Vancouver, British Columbia. The five campuses are called Richmond (Physical Campus in Richmond, BC), Langley (Physical Campus in Langley, BC), Cloverdale/Tech (Physical Campus in Surrey, BC), Surrey (Physical Campus Surrey, BC), and Civic Plaza (Air-space Parcel in Surrey, BC).

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school Yes Yes
Medical school No No
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) Yes Yes
Museum No No
Satellite campus No No
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres Yes Yes
Agricultural experiment station larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres No No
Hospital No No

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
The KPU Farm at Garden City Lands in Richmond is included within the institutional boundary, however, the Tsawwassen First Nation Farm - where some Sustainable Agriculture courses are taken - is not included as the land is owned and operated by the Tsawwassen First Nation.

Although KPU Civic Plaza is a leased air-parcel in a tower building, it is operated under the same Facilities team that works on all four land-owned campuses.

"Other Professional Schools with Labs or Clinics" above includes the Nursing Laboratories at the Langley Campus. KPU has other labs including but not limited to biology, agriculture, chemistry, and brewing labs.

The KPU Farm at the Garden City Lands is the site of a range of research activities, mostly driven by student research, but there is not a separate experiment station that is separate from the farm itself. The Farm at Garden City Lands is 8 Acres.
