Yes

Percentage of employees assessed, directly or by representative sample:
43

A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:

An annual Employee Feedback Survey was administered by the Office of Planning and Accountability (OPA) and disseminated across employee groups - including support staff, excluded administrators, and faculty – who were working in the Fall 2022 term. The voluntary online survey was open from December 1st, 2022, to January 23rd, 2023, with the purpose to collect employees’ feedback on their overall experience working at KPU. Out of 1892 employees, a total of 816 responded leading to a 43% response rate. The highest response rate was excluded administrators at 70%, with 40% for staff, and 39% for faculty. The survey included engagement focused questions including but not limited to treatment in the workplace; level of support by co-workers; recognition of opinion; work load and stress; feeling valued, and more. Participants answer each question by selecting the level of agreement that most resonates with them based on the content asked in each question. This was a 5-point scale using the following levels of agreement: strongly agree, somewhat agree, neither agree nor disagree, somewhat disagree, and strongly disagree.

A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:

KPU’s Human Resources (HR) Department took a series of steps to addresses issues raised in the evaluation. Firstly, HR presented the KPU overall survey results to the University’s Executive. After presenting to the Executive, HR proceeded to the following action items:

  1. Overall KPU reports have been communicated to the University. Employees can access the survey reports through KPU employee intranet.

  2. HR shared divisional survey reports to each division.

  3. Each division will reflect on their reports and come up with one area of improvement to take action towards over the following year. To support divisional engagement planning, HR created and provided resources and tools.

  4. KPU’s Staff Engagement Committee, which consisted of staff from across the university, to closely review the results of the survey and provide long-term recommendations to the University’s Executive. Individual departments, teams, and/or HR staff members will action these long-term recommendations.
