A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Beginning in January 2024, the New Employee Orientation (NEO) included a 15 minute presentation from the Office of Sustainability to promote and encourage sustainability at KPU. All new employees who were recently hired or otherwise had not attended an NEO session were invited to attend. The presentation highlighted how sustainability is a strategic goal at KPU, through its Strategic Plan, Vision 2026, as well as its Official Campus Plan's Sustainability Framework. This presentation also outlined what sustainability means at KPU as well as some key areas of focus at KPU, such as climate action, operations, education and outreach, mobility, and more. The presentation also highlighted sustainability services (sustainable living features, social media, and more) and opportunities on campus. One particular opportunity that was promoted was raising awareness on KPU's newly created Sustainability Hub. In addition, attendees were advised that if they'd like to learn more, participate or volunteer in sustainability-related events or activities, or would like to join the Sustainability Hub, they could connect with the Office of Sustainability.
