A brief description of how sustainability is included prominently in new student orientation :

The Kwantlen Student Association's (KSA) sustainability team tabled throughout the student orientation week in September informing all new students of the multiple sustainability services KSA offers including:

  • Carpool service discounts for students, staff, and faculty at Liftango and Poparide

  • Translink's U-pass for students, a region-wide discounted transit pass for post-secondary students

  • Free bike lockers for students, staff, and faculty on all land-based campuses

  • Inter-campus shuttle for the KPU community that transits between the four land-based campuses, Surrey, Cloverdale, Langley, and Richmond.

  • Free community garden plots

  • Organic grocery delivery discount service per month

  • REBOOT free computer repair service

  • Grassroots Cafe - an eco-conscious, student run, mostly vegetarian cafe on Surrey Campus

  • 25 cent discount mug discount at Grassroots Cafe On top of informing the students about these services, they give out swag including "Fill it Forward" water bottles, shower timers, and bike repair kits. Grassroots Cafe is also partnering for catering throughout the week where they are keeping the event as low-waste as possible, including serving pizza with napkins, and not providing disposable plates, cutlery, nor plastic cups.
