A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the municipal/local level:
Knox College leadership worked closely with Galesburg city leadership to support changes to local transit services that better serve the Knox community, including changing the service times and routes. Knox senior leaders also advocated for changes to the downtown landscape, especially those within walking distance of the College; advocating for more walking paths and better lighting and signage throughout downtown. Knox College is a member of the Galesburg economic development organization.

Knox College's government relations officer and students advocated for the state of Illinois' Monetary Award Program, which provides tuition grants to low-income students. Advocacy included letters to state representatives, as well as visits to their state offices, including the Governor's.

A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability at the national level:
Knox College's president and government relations officer met with and wrote letters to Congressional Representatives in support of DACA legislation to protect undocumented students, in support of an extension of the Perkins loan for low-income, first generation students, in support of renewed funding for TRIO, and in opposition to specific measures in the proposed PROSPER higher education bill. Knox's government relations officer also participated in Rep. Cheri Bustos' economic development forum to advocate on behalf of continued support for Pell grants, the Perkins loan, and other low-income, first generation student supports.
