A brief description of the institution’s formal participatory or shared governance bodies:
Board of Governors:
The Board of Governors holds the ultimate responsibility for the governance and operation of The King’s University, and is accountable to the King’s membership. Although not involved with day-to-day management of the institution, it ensures that King’s fulfills its Mission. Governors concern themselves with the larger questions, such as:
•Is King’s fulfilling its mission, and are current policies in keeping with this mission?
•Does King’s keep the vision for future development of the institution?
•Is King’s responsible in its use of funds?
•Does King’s communicate effectively with its supporting community?
•Does King’s plan adequately in the area of finance, facilities development, and in academic areas?
The Board of Governors also have an important role in maintaining and ensuring the freedom of inquiry and learning at the University. Each member of the Board also acts as liaison with the supporting community.

Senate:
The Senate is established in The King's University Act, and is the ultimate governing body for matters of curriculum, instruction, faculty qualifications, admission requirements, and student discipline. It also makes recommendations to the Board for the conferral of degrees, and on any other matters referred to it by the Board or which the Senate deems important to carrying out the King's mandate.
The Senate is composed of the President, Vice President Academic and Research, two members of faculty as determined by General Faculty Council, two students as determined by the Students' Association, one member of administrative staff, three members of the Board, and four external representatives who have expertise in university-level education appointed by the Board. A Chair and Vice Chair are elected by the members of Senate from the non-student and non-employee members.

General Faculty Council:
Mandate: To consider all matters having academic implications for the University, including addition, deletion, and substantial changes of programs, admissions and graduations requirements, and permanent faculty appointments; to recommend action to Senate or to University administration as appropriate, and to advise on all important matters affecting the welfare of the University.
Members: All duly appointed, tenure track faculty members and [faculty service officers], the President, the Vice President Academic, the Directory of Library Services, the Vice President Student Development, the Registrar, two members of the Students Association as determined by that association, one member of the sessional or part time faculty chosen by those individuals, and such other persons as the Senate may appoint.

Staff Assembly:
The mandate and purpose of the Staff Assembly is to aid in achieving the mission of the University by providing a forum for all members of the administrative staff for information sharing, staff professional development, and meaningful input and dialogue regarding institution-wide administrative strategies and policies. Formal recommendations, feedback, or requests for clarification may be communicated to other bodies. The Staff Assembly includes all members of the administrative staff.

Student's Association:
The King's University Students' Association is an organization governed by students, for students. Every King's student automatically becomes a member of the Students’ Association. They oversee students needs in areas such as clubs, advocacy, and student spaces and services such as The Level Coffee House, it's our job to make sure the needs of students are being addressed. King's Students' Association is its own organization; acting within The King's University, yet maintaining independence from the institution. They are an independent organization committed to serving and representing King's students. As the official voice of students at King's, the Students' Association works to make students' voices heard and opinions known.
