1st campaign

Name of the campaign:
Environmental Stewardship Challenge

A brief description of the campaign:
On an annual basis the student run club, The King’s Keeper’s, has conducted some sort of sustainable living challenge, an outreach campaigns that yields measurable, positive results in advancing sustainability at King’s.

The Environmental Stewardship Challenge is a thirty-day lifestyle challenge designed for participation of groups such as clubs, organizations and institutions. The group that adopts the Challenge will design and implement the different parts of the Challenge. Participants set goals and track progress in four areas: food, water, waste and energy. The Challenge begins with a kick-off event to explain the ESC and motivate participants for the challenge ahead. Leaders will provide encouragement throughout the 30 days e-mails and a final wrap up event, which can include a time of sharing about personal experiences and changes.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:
The activities in the challenge are intended to target daily routines to help achieve the stewardship goals of reducing consumption and caring for creation. Successfully completing these challenges will reduce students ecological footprint. Four components of life are targeted: food, water, waste and energy.

Food: By eating locally and reducing meat consumption the total amount of energy required for eating habits will be significantly reduced.

Water: Energy is required to heat and transport water to its destination. Reducing water consumption and using less hot water will help “wash away” your footprint.

Waste: By reducing waste you lessen the demand on resources required to produce that waste. You will also be part of creating a cleaner and healthier environment!

Energy: Choose to be energy smart and always turn off lights, computers, and other items that require power. It’s also a good choice to bike or take public transit as often as possible.
