A brief description of notable policies or programs to make the institution accessible and affordable to low-income students:

• Student Support Services (TRIO Program): Student Support Services assists low income and students registered with Student Accessibility Services in navigating campus resources and creating a meaningful Kent State experience. Support is provided in the core areas of Academic Success, Personal and Professional Development and Advocacy and Support.
• McNair Scholars (TRIO Program): The purpose of the McNair Program is to prepare first-generation, low-income, undergraduate students, from groups underrepresented for graduate school and doctoral study. McNair Scholars are engaged in a variety of activities, including mentored research, and academic and cultural seminars.
• Open Door Scholarship Program (CCI): Funding that provides 4-year renewable scholarships to first-generation, high-need students. The priority is on Pell students, but we also included students who had a very low EFC but were not eligible for the Pell because they usually have the largest financial gap to fill.
• Supplemental Aid/Emergency Scholarship (ADO-UC): This scholarship provides low-income students with an emergency scholarship of up to $500 a semester to purchase basic need items along with tuition and books or course supplies. The goal is to assist with the removal of financial barriers.

A brief description of notable policies or programs to support non-traditional students:

• The Center for Adult and Veteran Services: Engages the adult learner population across the eight-campus system through a variety of programs and services detailed below. These are centered around providing meaningful experiences outside of the classroom that supplement the learning of adult students through connections to campus resources, advocacy, and creating a sense of community, belonging, and mattering.
• Blackboard Learn: Webpage specifically dedicated to adult learners. This page has student success videos and connects students to ¬¬on and off campus resources that provide tools to success. It’s a completely online resource that can be accessed at a time convenient to the student.
• Parenting Student Taskforce that has worked for three years to build targeted programs, services, and accommodations for parenting students.
o Coding of parenting students for targeted programs and services
o Working towards online repository of parenting resources
o Family friendly study hours and locations that engage students and their dependents
• LIFE Single Parent Learning Community
o This is a comprehensive, yet small, program that engages single parenting students in a mentorship and success program.
o The program supports between 10-20 students with scholarships, school supplies, and holiday food drives/items.
