The concept of EcoReps is to facilitate communication and action regarding sustainability between students living on campus and the Office of Sustainability. This avenue for engagement benefits campus sustainability efforts to create a healthy environment, on campus and beyond. There were 5,708 students living in the Residence Halls in Spring Semester 2020. EcoReps are overseen by Residence Services, the Office of Sustainability, Kent Interhall Council Director of Programming, and Kent Interhall Council. Kent Interhall Council (KIC) is the student government of the residence halls on Kent State University's Kent Campus, which is comprised of 15 individual hall councils that make up Kent Interhall Council.

A brief description of the student educators program’s target audience (1st program):

EcoReps can relay information about upcoming events and programs to their Hall Councils, and also relay suggestions, ideas and concerns raised by students to the Office of Sustainability. The 15 Hall Councils on campus can then relay this information back to their own residence, thereby reaching all 5,708 students that live in the Residence Halls. This avenue for engagement will benefit campus sustainability efforts to create a healthy environment, on campus and beyond. There were 5,708 students living in the Residence Halls in Spring Semester 2020. EcoReps are part KIC which meets weekly. EcoReps have their own seperate meetings and generally work about 3-7 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
