A brief description of the carbon sinks, including vendor, project source, verification program and contract timeframes (as applicable):

KSC's pre-plate food waste is gathered and weighed on-campus by our recycling team. The carbon storage number was generated from the GHGI tool and covers the time period from 7/1/2015 - 6/30/2016.
SIMAP calculated that KSC total GHGMTCDE for our dining waste totaled -39.37 for the 2018-19 performance year

Adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net GHG emissions 6,741.50 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 27,419.02 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Start and end dates of the performance year and baseline year (or three-year periods):
Performance year Baseline year
Start date July 1, 2018 July 1, 2014
End date June 30, 2019 June 30, 2015

A brief description of when and why the GHG emissions baseline was adopted:

2018-19 is the most recent AND complete Fiscal Year where KSC has data required to submit its GHGI into SIMAP

Full-time equivalent of employees 583 676
Full-time equivalent of students enrolled exclusively in distance education 0 0
Weighted Campus Users 3,425.25 4,840

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user:
Performance year Baseline year
Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user 1.97 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent 5.67 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Percentage reduction in adjusted net Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions per weighted campus user from baseline:
65.26

Gross floor area of building space, performance year:
156,729.03 Gross square meters

Floor area of energy intensive building space, performance year:

EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
175,844.66 Gross square meters

Adjusted net Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions per unit of EUI-adjusted floor area, performance year:
0.04 MtCO2e per square meter

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

KSC saw its last gallon of No. 6 oil used in the campus steam plant during Sept of the performance year. Since then, the environmental benefits of using recycled (100% refined used) vegetable oil (the LR-100 product) led to a 90% reduction in total emissions of traditional air pollutants, those other than CO2, according to our permit result submitted to the state.
Here is data from 2014-2019:
2014: total emissions: 60.438 tons
2015: total emissions: 64.033 tons
2016: total emissions: 56.944 tons
2017: total emissions: 33.972 tons
2018: total emissions: 20.158 tons
2019: total emissions: 7.281 tons
