Name or title of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Keene State College and City of Keene analyze wastewater to forecast potential threat of COVID-19

A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome that outlines how credit criteria are met and any positive measurable outcomes associated with the innovation:

A unique multidisciplinary collaboration between Keene State College (KSC) and the City of Keene is gathering critical data about the prevalence of COVID-19 in wastewater. KSC's Public Health, Biology, Chemistry and Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences departments are working with City of Keene wastewater engineers and City officials to collect and analyze weekly data from sewage collection locations at the College and in the city. These data are used to create dashboards decision-makers are using to determine Covid-19 protocols and plans. Samples from the Keene State campus and in the city are collected in two locations, and the
samples are analyzed for how much of the virus is present per liter of wastewater. In close partnership, Keene State and the City of Keene review
data on a weekly basis to look for trends in data that could lead to additional steps for the health and safety of the community.
