A brief description of how the student educators are selected (1st program):
Students apply through the student employment system and can be either work study or student hourly.
We try to hire students from each of the first year residence halls and we use a questionnaire to help cull the applications. We ask the returning Eco-reps to review the applications and help determine who might be the best candidates for the jobs.

A brief description of the formal training that the student educators receive (1st program):
We use a workbook, which includes an introduction and chapters on each topic (energy, waste, etc). There are suggested activities, suggested additional readings and check lists in the workbook as well. The workbook was developed using templates from other Colleges and Universities and is reviewed and updated each year.
We meet twice a month in group meetings. We also meet in small groups during the off weeks, to plan and hold events.
The on line portal, Blackboard, is also used extensively.

Program is staffed by the Campus Sustainability Officer with assistance from the Campus Recycling Coordinator. Funding comes from the Physical Plant administrative budget. We've also recently been given a room near the Sustain/Recycling offices (known as ROCKS) for Eco-Rep meeting and work space.
