KCC conducts annual surveys that gather information about the attitudes, perceptions and experiences of campus stakeholders and underrepresented groups, the President's Cabinet meets with the Student Advisory Council yearly, and through interaction with student clubs, Student Services regularly seeks input and recommendations from all students. Noel-Levitz Survey 2012-no significant changes over the last two years.

Yearly the Coordinator of Student Activities assesses the diversity of students and the Dean for Student Services assesses the educational equity. The President, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and the Vice- President of Instructional and Student Success review the assessments.

KCC has a strategic committee assessing public engagement and fostering sustainable community partnerships, In terms of governance, KCC is governed by an elected Board of Trustees over which KCC has no control. Currently the Board consists of four Caucasian men, two Caucasian women, one African American Student Trustee, as well as the Hispanic President of KCC. Public engagement assessments occur frequently, Board assessments occur at three-year term intervals.
