A brief description of programs, policies, infrastructure investments, outreach efforts, and/or other factors that contributed to the diversion rate, including efforts made during the previous three years:
KCC's recycling program is comprehensive and includes paper, cardboard, plastics, pallets, books, aluminum vans, scrap metal, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and lamp ballasts, cell phones, electronic waste, and glass. 86% of the books are repurposed by Better World Books, and 76% of the electronic waste is repurposed by World Computer Exchange. Recycling containers are conveniently dispersed throughout the campus and maintained by the Facilities Department. Hydration stations located throughout the campus helped to reduce the purchase of bottled water (nearly 35,000 plastic bottles)
