LEED Construction Standards (June 2012) The Board conducted a final reading and approved a recommendation to formalize a policy regarding Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver construction. In 2011, the State of Illinois, the Governor’s Office and the ICCB began promoting LEED guidelines and sustainable facilities for all projects whose cost of construction or remodeling would be supported with state appropriations. Building LEED Silver or equivalent honors the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment, of which KCC is a participant.
